Summer Sunday Strolls

Due to some summer road works on the 417 I have been taking a different route to work for the past couple of days, which is actually quicker than the 417, I think due to the volume of traffic heading to Kanata at that time of the morning.

The drive along Carling takes me past the Dick Bell Marina (whoever he is!) and so this afternoon Daniel and I went down to the marina to take a walk around and enjoy the sunshine :)

I think Dan was hoping for a kick about but there was too much geese poop around..!

(Yum... Dill pickle chips!!)

In the shade :)

Mr & Mrs D. Lafleur

When we first moved to Montreal in '95 and went to Bethel Chapel, Dave and his twin sister Melanie, were some of the first friends that Nat and I had.

Yesterday Dave married his girlfriend of a number of years, Joelle, at the Peoples Church in downtown Montreal.

It was really great to witness their marriage, but also to meet up with a few of the old Bethel crowd and some of the LLO people too.

Congratulations & best wishes to Dave & Joelle x

Fitzroy Fits for Camping

It came to our attention some time ago that in the 4 years that Daniel and I have been married we have never been camping together! We have spent plenty of time sleeping on air matresses when there were not enough beds at christmas or something but not actually in the woods in a tent.

I'm now happy to say that that is now no longer the case.

It was weeks ago now that I booked this camping trip. It was only to Fitzroy Harbour - approx a half an hour drive from our house but it was great. No long drives there before you set up or no long drive home again after, It was the perfect distance just for the weekend.
Friday morning on the drive to work I was a little skeptical that it was all going to go ahead as it had been forecast for crazy amounts of rain...

By about 3:00 it had stopped raining and was drying up nicely... From 3-5 pm I watch the patch of blue sky way off in the distance gradually get a bit closer.
After filling in some paperwork we finally arrived at out site at about 5.45pm and began to set up..

Then ate some dinner..

Then read... and went to sleep.

Saturday morning came bright and early as it always does when your camping...

and by about 9:00 we were washed dressed and up at the store reading the paper!

Tracy and Bryan came to spend Saturday with us and stayed over saturday night...

We went for a walk to the beach, to get some ice cream, we had naps, all read books, drank beer, chatted, ate great food, thank the guys for their work with the bbq, and great salad - thanks Tracy :)

In the evening we went for another short walk back to the beach to watch the sunset but no-one remembered the camera.

One quick sleep and it was already time to pack up and head home to check on the cat, time though for one last group shot.
Ps) Thanks to Amanda for checking on Phoenix on Saturday

Oh Canada!!!!! (Sunday July 1st)

Enough said really... Canada Day in the nations capital - is there anything better??

First the day started off just Daniel and I heading downtown at about 3pm and wandering aimlessly - with the 1000's of others like us.

(oh, how good did this feel...??)

Then we headed back to the LLC where we met up with Brad & Rae-Anne (& later Brian & Jen)

We all hung out at the LLC until about 8pm and then we headed back to Parliament Hill to share in the festivities with the now 100's of 1000's of people - you have never seen anything like it I promise - insane!!!

and at around 10pm the annual fireworks display started along with someone singing the national anthem... I am getting goose bumps just thinking about how awesome it was... amazing... that many people, in the capital of such a HUGE country, all singing the national anthem was just a memory you can't forget...

AWESOME EH?

10 Years? - Are you sure? (Sat 30th June)

This was a very bizarre night as we were all left questioning whether in fact it was just yesterday that we left Lindsay Place HS but sure enough, nearly to the day, it had been 10 years!

I think that everyone had a good time, even if the majority had the feeling "90% doesn't want to be here, but 10% of me does".

Our table even won the quiz which was complete cheese but hey, I'm not complaining. I don't win things very often so it was good.

Here are a few pics from the night...

When Alex (my best friend from HS) and I decided to leave and meet up with Fred and Steve... you'll never guess where we ended up..............................

You got it... TIM HORTONS!!! 3 for 3!!!
