From a land far, far away...

Came two very familiar visitors!!

This weekend we have the pleasure of Daniel's Auntie Helen & Uncle David visiting us from Fleckney, Leicestershire in the UK.

Daniel and I picked them up from the airport at about 9.20 last night (Friday) and they will be with us until first thing Monday morning.

Today (Saturday) we have been downtown to the Parliament buildings and we took the tour which included the House of Commons, the Senate, the library and a trip up the Peace Tower.

We then went to Baton Rouge for lunch - all had the ribs - of course! and then we walked back to the car..

Right now we are just having some down time before we head out at about 5.45 to the Sentors vs the Habs hockey game!! - SO excited can't wait!!

Hopefully more pics of that later :)

All things bright, beautiful - and New!! - well, new to us..

This weekend has been quite relaxing after a busy week.

Well, last weekend before my soccer tournament on the Saturday, Daniel and I went to look at a car that we liked, and then the Monday when we had more time we took it for a test drive...

It was a 2003 Ford Focus Wagon and it was resonably priced and well looked after so after the test drive we filled in the necessary paperwork, and on Tuesday night after woork we picked it up!!

After having it for a little less than a week, we are still very impressed with it and hopefully it will serve us for a few years at least.

And this was the Civic - incase you never saw it..?!

This afternoon we have been to look at some open houses in Kanata... There were few that we liked... I guess we will have to wait and see what happens on that front..

Exhaustion...

I don't even know if I spelt that right but I am so tired right now I can't be bothered really to find out!!

Today I played in the NCISL soccer tournament. I don't know if you know buit I play on the work team so its mostly all guys. On our team we only 2 girls playing but today there was just me!!

We had 3 games to play today, one at 11, one at 1:30 and one at 3:30. They were shorter than normal games but even so I feel pretty wiped!!

The day started great, we won our first game against the Alcatel Kinghts 2-1. We lost our second game against the Ottawa Bears, I think it was 3-1 but it might have been more... I try not to remember the losses! And we won our 3rd game 3-1 against the QNX Kickers - who were a very dirty, very foul mouthed team!

Anyways by the time we got to Local Heroes (a bar) we met some of the Bears and by their last game going to a 0-0 draw we made it throught to the semi finals so we are playing again tomorrow!!

No pics from today sorry - maybe tomorrow I will remember my camera and will get some shots. The pics below are from outside our work building, (1), before our last proper game of the season (4) , and Local Heroes afterwards (4) ... again.

Casino du Lac Leamy

The Casino du Lac Leamy is located in Gatineau about a 25 minute drive from our place in Nepean.

Last night Daniel and I went to the Salon Royal on the top floor of the Casino with Dave and Amanda.

On a Saturday night the Salon Royal has a fondue menu, so we had Ceaser salads to start, then a cheese fondue with bread, a Chinese broth which we cooked chicken, beef, salmon, shrimp, and scallops in, followed by an array of desserts - which of course included a chocolate fondue! and some coffee.

Our reservation was for 6pm and we sat there for just over 3 hours!! It was a great experience, very relaxed. There was also a band playing and people dancing too!

Shortly after we arrived we noticed that the hot air ballons that were taking part in the balloon fiesta this weekend, took off and proceeded to fly right past the windows of the restaurant - about 30 of them all at once!

After all of that food we went down onto the Casino floor to walk around a bit and take in the atmosphere - it was unlike anything I've ever seen before! To have that meny thousands of people all in on huge room and yet everyone is in their very own focused little worlds!

Anyway, we had a really great night there. Thanks to Dave & Amanda for sharing "date night" with us :)

Bob's Movies on the Beach

This is similar to the Mix 96 movies in the park that I used to go to with friends back in Montreal, except that Bob FM is the local radio station here and instead of in a park they do it on the Westboro Beach!
The 5th installment was a showing of Ferris Beuller's day off. A classic film 1986 film starring Matthew Broderick, that bought us all back to our youth!!

There was a great turn out on the beach - including the 6 of us!!
We arrived just before dusk, set up out blankets, ate some food, watched the sun go down, and of course, watched the flick!!
Oh the things you can do in Ottawa during the summer :)
